This lovely circular walking holiday begins and ends in the charming High Weald village of Wadhurst, a throwback to a bygone era with its thriving village shops and friendly community. The path leads over gentle hills, through woods and past tranquil lakes to moated castles in romantic gardens and stately parkland. It winds through pine forests, open countryside and apple orchards and passes through picturesque medieval Wealden villages with their unique architecture of wood and brick tiles, oast houses and marvelous churches. Each day you can stop to visit a castle, house. park or garden - some of the best loved in Southern England. The trail is almost entirely on footpaths and quiet country lanes.
The first day's walk starts directly in the morning from a railway station accesible from London in one hour. Sunday is the best day to start to enjoy full access to all the places of interest. A shorter, non-circular, version of the walk lasting three or four days is available. It is also possible to split the second day into two, adding a night to complete the circuit at a more leisurely pace. Accommodation at the end of the last day is included.
